Fans of the genre were already enjoying The Wilds, another program about young girls trying to survive in the wilderness before Yellowjackets debuted on our screens at the end of last year and became an instant hit.
The second season added some variety by bringing in a new male-dominated ensemble. However, with Prime Video’s cancellation, it’s unclear how this development would ultimately impact the show.
Is ‘the Wilds’ Returning for a Season 3?
We regret to inform you that The Wilds will not be returning for a third season. TMZ has the exclusive scoop that after two seasons, Prime Video has decided to terminate the show. Even though some cast members have hinted at potential storylines for Season 3, this information may come as a surprise to some viewers.
In a May interview with Cinema Blend, Mia Healey, who plays Shelby on the program, said, “[Season 3] really excites me. That’s when you realize, “Okay, this is a completely new ball game.” Moreover, we have access to the entire bunker. We’ve left the island and moved onto the mainland.
So here we have a group of dudes in sweats investigating something together in a bunker. If we do a third season, it will undoubtedly be a smash hit. Toni’s on-screen sister Erana James admitted, “I’m thinking about the writers and I’m saying, you have such a tall order and such a massive task. Really, I have no idea where this is going.
Exactly who from the cast of The Wilds season 2 was going to return for season 3?
A whole ensemble of surviving teenagers would have returned if the show had been revived.
Charles Alexander, Zack Calderon, Nicholas Coombe, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Aidan Laprete, Tanner Ray Rook, and Reed Shannon are some of the boys that would have gone back.
Season 3 of The Wilds would have featured the return of both Alex Fitzalan and Helena Howard, who played Seth and Nora respectively.
The Wilds Season 3 Plot
The Wilds’ abrupt cancellation left viewers hanging on a cliffhanger they’d never get to see resolved.
The second season of The Wilds ended with both groups of teenagers on the island uncovering fresh information, and it was evident that the team had intentions to keep going into season three. In a May 2022 interview with TVLine, executive producer Amy B. Harris hinted at exciting developments for both ensembles.
She went on to say that she was looking forward to witnessing the “chemistry” and “explosions” that could result from the collision of the two groups since they had “truly consolidated in a very powerful sense,” guarding, caring for, and battling with one another.
“[Executive producer] Sarah [Streicher] and I both really appreciate those situations where it’s just two people talking and you’re surprised to see those two people having a relationship. It’s like a bunch of ping-ponging, careening balls banging into each other, only now there are 14 of us doing it. I mean, we get to delve into people’s psyches in such granular detail, and it’s thrilling.
Gretchen, the leader of the experiment, left the audience with the cryptic line “people on the ground, watching,” which naturally generated a discussion amongst viewers. Has she recruited volunteers from both groups to assist with the next phase of the experiment?
Sophia Ali (Fatin) was similarly taken aback by the finale and told People Magazine that she hoped the cast will continue to grow and develop together.
Getting back together and making it more acceptable in public can shock people into thinking differently for a while. They’ll revert to their old ways and forget that they need to prioritize staying alive while men are present. And like us, she’ll never know for sure.
