The Society is an American mystery teen drama TV show created by Christopher Keyser. It debuted on Netflix on May 10, 2019. The Society is a story about a group of teenagers who are forced to learn how to run their own town after everyone else in it disappears.

For season 2 of The Society, the cast was set to come back. Kathryn Newton was set to play Allie again. The next season of the Netflix original series will also feature Jacques Colimon, Toby Wallace, Gideon Adlon, Sean Berdy, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Why was “The Society” canceled?

The show’s production was halted at first because of COVID-19, but it was supposed to start up again soon. Even the actors mentioned that they were getting ready to go back to work. But the COVID situation may have caused production costs to go up, which is why Netflix changed its mind.

“We’ve made the hard decision not to make second seasons of The Society,” Netflix told Deadline. “I’m not okay with this.”

According to  digitalspy.com Netflix ended season two of The Society because of how COVID-19 affected the TV and movie industries.

The second season of The Society did start filming in 2019, and Deadline reported on April 2 that it would be out in “late 2020.”
