AEG Presents accuses Young Thug of contract violation
According to All Hip-Hop, Young Thug is currently under investigation for allegedly breaking a contract. He reportedly received a $5 million “exorbitant” advance from AEG Presents, the promoter of his event.
This sum, which reflects the exclusive rights to Thugger’s concert, is what AEG is requesting in return. According to the complaint, the rapper violated the contract after agreeing to pay the advance in 2017. He claims that even though AEG owned the rights to his event, Young Thug canceled the gigs but kept the performance earnings.
Before he was detained in May on suspicion of RICO and other felonies, there was a problem with AEG.
YSL and Mr. Williams immediately failed and refused to honor their respective obligations under the 2017 Artist Agreement by, among other things, disregarding AEG’s rights, performing concerts without AEG’s involvement, and keeping all proceeds therefrom, according to AEG. “Despite having granted AEG the exclusive right to promote Mr. Williams’ concert performances under the terms of the 2017 Artist Agreement, YSL and Mr. Williams immediately failed and refused to honor their respective obligations under the 2017 Artist Agreement,” AEG noted. While awaiting trial for a RICO indictment, Young Thug is facing a number of new charges.
