The new movie takes place 20 years after the first Willow movie, which came out in 1988. In the original story, a young girl who wants to be a magician and a young man who wants to be a magician kill an evil queen and get rid of the dark forces. Now, the new series will be about three new heroines who leave their kingdoms to look for Willow, a famous sorceress.

Willow, played by Warwick Davis, is back, and Sorsha, played by Joanne Whalley, will also be back. Newcomers Ruby Cruz, who plays Kit Sorsha, Erin Kellyman, who plays Kit’s best friend Jade, an orphan who grew up in the castle and wants to be a knight, and Ellie Bamber, who plays Dove, a kitchen maid who is in love with Kit’s brother, has also joined the cast. Also, Annabelle Davis, who is the real-life daughter of Warwick Davis, will play Willow’s daughter.

The new series will take place years after the first movie and will follow a new group of adventurers.

The official plot summary for the new series says the following: “The story began with a villager from Nelwyn who wanted to be a magician and a baby girl who was meant to bring all the realms together. Together, they helped kill an evil queen and get rid of the forces of darkness.

“Now, the adventure continues in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other magical creatures live. An unlikely group of heroes goes on a dangerous quest far from home, where they must face their inner demons and work together to save their world.

Cast and Crew of Willow

As was already said, Warwick Davis (who has been in Star Wars and Harry Potter movies) is back as Willow Ufgood, but almost everyone else is new to the series.

Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown) plays Princess Kit, Erin Kellyman (Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Falcon, and the Winter Soldier) plays her best friend Jade, and Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home) has a role that hasn’t been named yet.

Stephen Woolfenden is in charge of the first two episodes. He has also been in charge of episodes of Doctor Who and Outlander.

Is Val Kilmer in the Willow TV series?

With Warwick Davies coming back, one of the big questions about the next season has been whether or not Val Kilmer will come back. Kilmer played the disgraced knight Madmartigan in the first movie.

Fans of Willow will be happy to hear that Warwick Davis and executive producer Jonathan Kasdan have confirmed that Val will be “a huge part” of the new series.

Kasdan told Yahoo Entertainment, “Val is a big part of this, and the first person I talked to when Warwick and I were given permission to do this was Val. We wanted him to play a part in the story. We wanted to have him on the show.”

Davis said, “Val’s spirit is very much with the series. Since we worked together on the movie, we’ve kept in touch. We’re good friends, and he’s a great guy.

“Val is still the reason I made it through the movie. When things were really dangerous and hard, he kept my spirits up. I was wet, cold, and exhausted. He made me laugh, and the whole thing was fun because of him. He also said, “Madmartigan lives on.”
