The Vow Plotline
The plot of The Vow is based on a true crime documentary series, and it shows how many members of the self-improvement group Nxivm cult were caught in a racketeering and s*x trafficking plot by the group’s leader, Keith Raniere. The series shows all the emotional events that happened as this plot unfolded.
What Happens in Season 2 of the Vow?
The second season of The Vow picks up where the first one left off, showing viewers again what went on behind the closed doors of the NXIVM cult and starting with Keith Raniere’s trial for his sickening crimes.
NXIVM co-founder Nancy Salzman talks about her role in the organization and how she came to build a business with so much wrong at its core. She also gives exclusive phone interviews with Keith Raniere from prison.
The official HBO summary says, “It follows the legal and emotional journeys of the group’s founders, supporters, and defectors as new evidence and shocking revelations come to light and a trial takes place in the national spotlight with federal prosecutors and defense attorneys.”
Five years after Keith Raniere was arrested in Mexico because of rumors that his self-help company, NXIVM, had a secret sex sorority, The Vow season 2 shows the many ways that Raniere and a trusted inner circle of acolytes worked together to recruit women into a female-only sect called DOS, whose name comes from a Latin acronym that means “Master of Obedient Women.”
