The Vow Plotline

The plot of The Vow is based on a true crime documentary series, and it shows how many members of the self-improvement group Nxivm cult were caught in a racketeering and s*x trafficking plot by the group’s leader, Keith Raniere. The series shows all the emotional events that happened as this plot unfolded.

Five years after Keith Raniere was arrested in Mexico because of rumors that his self-help company, NXIVM, had a secret sex sorority, The Vow season 2 shows the many ways that Raniere and a trusted inner circle of acolytes worked together to recruit women into a female-only sect called DOS, whose name comes from a Latin acronym that means “Master of Obedient Women.”

What Happened to Allison Mack and Co-founder Nancy Salzman?

After pleading guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy charges related to the NXIVM cult, Smallville star Allison Mack was sentenced to three years in prison and fined $20,000. She is doing her time at FCI Dublin, which is in the East Bay area near San Francisco.

Nancy Salzman admitted to being part of the NXIVM group and was sentenced to 42 months in a federal prison camp in West Virginia and a $150,000 fine.

She is still in jail. She said that she, too, was brainwashed by Keith Raniere and that at the time, she didn’t know if she could ever forgive herself.
