Outlander Season 7 Release Date: How Many Episodes Will the Seventh Season

The upcoming seventh season of Outlander will not allow viewers to simply time travel like our beloved Claire did to find out what happens next.

Starz/Starzplay premiered the sixth season of the time-traveling period drama in March 2022, continuing the adventures of the Frasers and their family as they attempt to settle down in 18th-century North Carolina.

Neither their daily life nor the impending Revolutionary War can be considered tranquil.

Claire was in perilous straits by the end of Season 6 with her family members dispersed across the country. This included Jamie, Young Ian, Bree, Roger, Fergus, and Marsali.

What Will the Plot Be?

Fans of Outlander, rejoice! We won’t have to wait too long for season seven to air. According to Deadline, Season 7 of Outlander is scheduled to premiere in “late 2022/early 2023.”

Furthermore, on March 10th, Sam Heughan, the lead actor of Outlander (and possibly our future James Bond), said that they are “about to go back and shoot season 7” on Watch What Happens Live.

The plot of the upcoming seventh season has been reported to be an adaptation of the novel Echo In The Bone. Roberts said, “We can’t wait to get into the writer’s room and start breaking Echo in the Bone and look forward to bringing the audience another season of this amazing story.”

Take a look at this preview of the book’s plot:

located in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, and Scotland. The novel’s caltrop-like interior structure is reflected on the cover. A child’s jack with sharp spikes, this historic military weapon was employed by the Romans to scare away elephants and is still used by the Highway Patrol today to stop fleeing criminals in their cars.

There are four major plot lines in this book, all of which converge in the center of the American Revolution: Jamie and Claire, Roger and Brianna (and family), Lord John and William, and Young Ian.

That’s right, following the 21-month break between Outlander season 5 and Outlander season 6, it looks like the time-traveling series’ timetable has picked up the pace and is moving at full steam ahead.

Starz has said that production on the seventh season of Outlander is expected to wrap up in the coming months, placing the premiere of the new episode sometime in late 2022 or early 2023.

What Actors Will Be in Outlander Season 7?

The events of Outlander books 6 and 7, respectively, by Diana Gabaldon, will be the focus of season seven.

All the major players are present in those books, thus the following cast members will undoubtedly return:

Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser)                                                                                                                                  • Richard Rankin (Roger Mackenzie)
• Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser)
• Sophie Skelton (Brianna Mackenzie)

We might also see the return of fan favorites like:

• John Bell (Young Ian)                                                                                                                                               • Caitlin O’Ryan (Lizzie)
• David Berry (Lord John)
• Cesar Domboy (Fergus)
• Lauren Lyle (Marsali)

Additionally, some of the newer cast members may return to complete their character narratives in the new season, as the end of season six left a number of loose ends that need to be addressed.

Alexander Vlahos (Allan Christie)
• Chris Larkin (Richard Brown)                                                                                                                                   • Mark Lewis Jones (Tom Christie)
• Brennan Martin (Wendigo Donner)
• Paul Gorman (Josiah and Keziah Beardsley)

Alex Vlahos hinted to his return to the series in a July 2022 tweet.

“This can’t be finished for Tom and Allan,” he said. It’s a shame that so much of Allan’s story didn’t make it into the show, but I can say that we shot a lot more than what was ultimately used. Christie still has some far to go.

His role is that of a puppet master. I think he’s malevolent, despite the fact that he comes out as dull or simple to new acquaintances. He manipulates events with deft fingerwork.

In May of 2022, a new cast member was revealed, giving fans their first look at one of the most awaited characters in the series. William Ransom, the hidden son of protagonist Jamie Fraser, will be played by Charles Vandervaart of Lost in Space and The Craft: Legacy.

Outlander Season 7 Release Date

After being brought up by his stepfather Lord John Grey (played by David Berry on the show), William, the ninth Earl of Ellesmere, in the novel has no idea who his biological father is.

The Hunter children from the books will also make their debut in the upcoming episodes. Rachel Hunter will be played by Izzy Meikle-Small (Never Let Me Go) and Joey Phillips (Casualty) will play her brother, Dr. Denzell Hunter.

The arrival of Young Ian at their farm with a sick and injured William Ransom alters the course of the siblings’ lives forever.

Denzell has medical training and hopes to serve as a physician in the Revolutionary Army; Rachel is quiet but shows hints of a fiery temperament, earning the respect of Young Ian and William.

Fans will also be rooting for a return appearance by Graham McTavish in Outlander. The actor, who also co-stars with Sam Heughan in Men In Kilts, played Jamie’s uncle Dougal Mackenzie in the first two seasons of Outlander.

In season five, he reprised his role as Dougal’s uncle Buck, and it seemed he was open to further guest starring opportunities.

“Buck… For what reason, “joked about it “I’m quite sure he appears in volumes seven and eight, but I could be wrong about that. One thing I can tell you about show business is that actors are always the last to find out about anything.”

In Total, How Many Episodes Will the Seventh Season of “Outlander” Have?

Season 7 of Outlander will be a landmark installment, and it will span an enormous 16 episodes. In light of the fact that season 6 was cut from 13 to 8 episodes because to the Covid-19 outbreak, Starz is making up for lost time with a more extensive new installment (yay).

Caitriona Balfe recently spoke with Digital Spy and revealed the reasoning behind the supplemental episodes in Season 7. “What we did was take the four episodes that we would have filmed [for season 6] and now having them at the beginning of season seven,” Balfe explained, making Season 7 a 16-episode season.

That’s why I believe we can continue making Outlander the way we always have: by taking our time and letting the story develop naturally.

More episodes of the historical drama are great news after the ‘droughtlander,’ which TV audiences endured last year.
