Just after turning 21, Siwa recalled a spontaneous idea before a performance: “I was like, ‘I wanna f***ing take a shot before this.’

And my grandma was like, ‘Alright, JoJo. You should do it.’ And I was like, alright. Let’s do it!” This supportive encouragement from her grandma turned into a cherished ritual for Siwa. She now incorporates taking a shot of liquor as part of her stage performances, particularly during Pride celebrations.
