Review For “Semi-Pro”

Since 2005’s Bewitched and Kicking & Screaming, Ferrell’s Semi-Pro is undoubtedly his poorest movie. Jackie Moon, the owner, coach, and star player of the Flint Tropics, a shockingly awful semi-pro basketball team that only draws a small number of devoted fans, is the main subject of the film.

Amazingly, it ended up being a box office dud, and after watching the movie, I must say that viewers were wise to steer clear of this one.

Will Jackie’s assistance from former pro-Monix (Woody Harrelson) be sufficient to prevent the Tropics from being terminated? When it comes to sprinkling the movie with silly moments that support its central theme, director Kent Alterman falls short.

The best thing to come out of Semi-Pro was the Super Bowl beer ads, and almost all of the amusing parts are featured in the previews. Strangely, Harrelson’s uninteresting role garners more attention than Ferrell’s, who doesn’t have anything to do either.
