Finally, the film was shot on-site in Poland for 92 days, replicating the Paszów camp on a nearby abandoned rock quarry. The production was also permitted to film outside the gates of Auschwitz.

If Oskar Schindler had been a traditional hero, standing up for what he believed in, he would have been a more spartan man to understand. His life is a mystery because of his flaws as a drinker, a gambler, a womanizer, motivated by avarice, and a love for high living.

Without using the simple principles of fiction, Steven Spielberg addresses the Holocaust as a historical event. By the end of the war, he had put his life in danger, wasted his riches trying to save those Jews, and had spent months defrauding the Nazis with a munitions plant that never turned out a single serviceable shell.

How come he changed? Instead of using false melodrama, Spielberg depends on a succession of occurrences that are seen clearly and without editing. We also have a vivid and horrifying image of the Holocaust.

After studying him, we understand how important it was for people to think like Jeffrey Dahmer for Nazism to exist. Spielberg depicts Schindler coping with the insanity of the Nazi system by filming many of the actual locations where the events in the movie occurred (including Schindler’s initial factory and even the gates of Auschwitz).

Many of the real-world locations where the story’s events take place are used for black-and-white filming. The art direction, cinematography, special effects, and crowd management in particular scenes are masterworks.
