American sports drama Creed was released in 2015; it was directed by Ryan Coogler, who also wrote the screenplay with Aaron Covington. The movie is the seventh in the Rocky movie series and a spin-off of that one.
Starring in it are Graham McTavish, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Tony Bellew, Sylvester Stallone, and Michael B. Jordan. Rocky Balboa, Apollo Creed’s father’s former foe turned buddy, trains and mentors amateur boxer Adonis Creed (Jordan) in the movie.
Even though Rocky Balboa was widely regarded as the franchise’s final film, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer engaged Coogler to create a Rocky spin-off in 2013. By April 2014, Coogler and Covington’s original screenplay had been finished, with Jordan and Stallone’s participation also confirmed.

Is Creed Based on a Real-life Story?
The Rocky film series, which Sylvester Stallone started, was revived with Creed by filmmaker Ryan Coogler, who also gave it a fresh new spin. The six films that made up Stallone’s Rocky series featured Rocky Balboa as the protagonist. Carl Weathers’ Apollo Creed, who played another role, was a pivotal figure in the film’s series. Creed is not based on a true story because all of the characters are wholly made up.
Because his father is a huge Rocky fan, Coogler wanted to pay homage to him in his film. The Wrap said that Coogler’s father had a medical ailment that caused his muscles to shrink, according to the story.
When Coogler first had the idea, he was getting ready to shoot his first film, Fruitvale Station. Coogler pondered whether one of his father’s heroes had had a similar circumstance and had a young man enter his life to improve it.
Shortly he produced Creed, adding his vision while drawing on his expertise in the Rocky film series. Sylvester Stallone was impressed by Fruitvale Station, the director said, and although though he hadn’t previously directed any movies, he agreed to take on the job after hearing about it from him. Ryan Coogler continued, “My father, who was impacted by many of the situations featured in the film, found the movie to be emotionally draining.”
Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan returned to their roles as Rocky and Donnie Creed, respectively, in the successful follow-up film Creed 2 three years after the first film’s release. Fans and critics alike continued to love the movie after that. Michael B. Jordan will make his directing debut for Creed 3 on November 23, 2022. In Amazon Prime Video, Creed is a video that you can view.
