Neil Gaiman created and wrote the fantasy comedy series Good Omens, based on his and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel of the same name.
The six-episode co-production between Amazon Studios and BBC Studios was directed by Douglas Mackinnon, with Gaiman also serving as showrunner.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant lead a large ensemble cast that also includes Adria Arjona, Miranda Richardson, Michael McKean, Jack Whitehall, Nick Offerman, Brian Cox, Mireille Enos, Jon Hamm, and Frances McDormand as the voice of God, who narrates the series.
Good Omens Season 2 Plot: What Will Happen?
“It’s 31 years since Good Omens was published, which means it’s 32 years since Terry Pratchett and I laid in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention and plotted the sequel,” Gaiman said (via TV Line).
“I got to use some of the sequel in Good Omens, which is where our angels came from. Terry is no longer present, but when he was, we talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens and where the story should go next.”
He went on: “People have been asking what happened next (and also what happened before) to our favorite Angel and Demon. Here are the answers you’ve been looking for. We’re back in Soho, traveling through time and space to solve a mystery that begins with an angel wandering through Soho with no memory.”
“It’s probably less good for the universe because it almost certainly means there will be some new existential threat to its existence to deal with,” Tennant added, “but, you know – swings and roundabouts.”

Good Omens Season 2 Cast: Who’s in It?
Tennant and Sheen are clearly back as the show’s faces.
Other returning cast members include Paul Adeyefa, Michael McKean, Gloria Obianyo, Miranda Richardson, Maggie Service, Reece Shearsmith, and Nina Sosanya.
The Good Omens team has confirmed, however, that some of the actors will be playing new characters. We’ll update you when we have more information on that strange revelation.
The cast has also been expanded to include Siรขn Phillips (Dune), Tim Downie (Outlander), Andi Osho (I May Destroy You), and Alex Norton (Pirates of the Caribbean).
According to Deadline, one person who will not be returning is Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Satan in the series. This disheartening news was revealed in January 2022.
When Will Good Omens Season 2 Be Released?
During the Good Omens Season 2 panel at the 2022 New York Comic Con (NYCC), it was revealed that the show will return triumphantly sometime in the summer of 2023.
Even though Amazon has begun to release new episodes of their shows on a weekly basis, it’s unclear whether Good Omens Season 2 will be released in this manner or all at once like the first season, but we’ll hopefully find out in the coming months.
