Elton John and Britney Spears reportedly re-recorded Tiny Dancer

Bob Dylan once asked Elton John how he wrote the chorus of the song »Tiny Dancer«. He replied: He was trying to make it sound as Californian as possible. Packing an entire state, an entire lifestyle into one refrain, only exceptional musicians like Elton John can do that. And maybe Britney Spears too?

, Spears and John are said to have recently met at a Beverly Hills recording studio to re-record the song as a duet. It would be Britney Spears’ first studio recording in almost six years. Since the singer freed herself from her father’s tutelage in the fall, fans have speculated when she will start recording new music again. Spears recently posted a clip on Instagram of her early hit “Baby One More Time” by 1998 sings. At the time, she wrote about the post: “I haven’t shared my voice with you in a very long time … maybe too long”.

The Elton John recording is said to be released by Universal in August. “Tiny Dancer”, originally over six minutes long, is one of Elton John’s greatest hits, it dates from 1971. 1998 a newly produced video clip for the song was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
