Day Shift is an American vampire movie that comes out in 2022 and is directed by J. J. Perry. Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten wrote the script, which was based on a story by Tice.

Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Meagan Good, Karla Souza, Steve Howey, Scott Adkins, and Snoop Dogg all have roles in the movie. Day Shift came out on Netflix on August 12, 2022, and critics had mixed things to say about it.

Day Shift is a new Netflix original movie about a vampire hunter who, like most people, just wants to make enough money to take care of his daughter.

This action-packed comedy is stylish and fun, with dark humor and a lot of blood, making it another hit for the streaming giant.

Plot

Bud Jablonski, a pool cleaner, sees a man leave a nearby house. He sneaks in and finds an older woman and a younger man, both vampires, living there.

He kills the vampires and pulls out their fangs after a long fight. It turns out that Bud is not a pool cleaner. Instead, he is a vampire hunter.

Bud tries to sell the fangs at a pawn shop, but the prices that the shop’s owner, Troy, is willing to pay are not enough to help Bud with his money problems.

Bud’s ex-wife and their daughter, who goes to a private school with high fees, want to move to Florida. Bud has to go back to the vampire hunting union to pay for his daughter’s braces and her college tuition.

Bud asks his friend John Elliot for help to get back into the union. Ralph Seeger, the boss of the union, turns him down at first because he had been kicked out of the union before because of how dangerous and aggressive he was when hunting.

He finally gets one last chance, but he has to work under strict rules. He can only work the day shift, which doesn’t pay well, and a union rep named Seth must watch over him. Seth’s job is to look for and report any rules that Bud breaks.

In the meantime, a vampire named Audrey finds the vampires that Bud killed. Audrey tortures and questions Troy while looking for the person who killed the older of the two vampires.

Before she kills him, she tells him that people used to worship vampires as gods, and she has plans to bring back the old “god worship” hierarchy.

Day Shift is the first movie that J. J. Perry directed all by himself. The script was written by Tyler Tice, and Shay Hatten made some changes to it.

Chad Stahelski, Jason Spitz, Jamie Foxx, Shaun Redick Peter Baxter, Datari Turner, and Yvette Yates Redick all worked on the project.

On October 20, 2020, Netflix announced the movie and said that Foxx had joined the cast. In April 2021, more people were added to the cast. The main filming was supposed to take place between April 19 and August 22, 2021, in Los Angeles, California.

There is a lot of comedy, drama, and action in the trailer for Day Shift. At first glance, the idea of a pool guy who is also a vampire hunter might seem silly, but it’s clear from the trailer that the action scenes and high-budget special effects are anything but funny.

Some of the deaths of vampires look like they came right out of The Matrix. There are a lot of chances for Foxx, Franco, and Snoop Dogg to make people laugh, too.
