Early Life

Paisley was born in Glen Dale, West Virginia in 1972 as the only child of Douglas Edward Paisley and Sandra Jean Paisley. Brad Paisley received his first guitar and a love of country music from his grandfather when he was eight years old.

Brad Paisley made his professional debut as a singer in 1999 with the song “Who Needs Pictures” on the Arista Nashville label. He made his first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry in May 1999. “He Didn’t Have to Be” became his first No. 1 single in December 1999.

In 2002, he received the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award as well as the Academy of Country Music’s award for best new male vocalist. A year later, he was nominated for his first Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
