Aquaman 2 Release Date: Who is the Villian in This Film?
Aquaman, directed by James Wan, is the only DCEU movie to make more than a billion dollars around the world. It’s the best for a lot of reasons: Atlantians riding sharks and seahorses, scary sea creatures, and crab people.
Shazam! also had some fun parts, but almost every shot in Aquaman has special effects that will melt your face off. The first scene with Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) shows that the rest of the movie will be a campy ’80s action movie.
Aquaman is a full homage to action movies from the 1980s. It has a hunk, one-liners, and action that is punctuated. The movie takes place soon after Justice League, and Arthur is having a hard time accepting his responsibilities to both the people of Atlantis and the people on Earth.
He acts as a protector of the ocean until his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson), who plans a fight with the surface, forces him to get involved in the royal affairs of Atlantis.
Aquaman 2 Plot
In order to prevent a war between the undersea realm of Atlantis and the rest of the planet, Arthur Curry reluctantly decides to claim his inheritance as King of Atlantis. This is the story of the first movie. His choice launches a global quest as he looks for King Atlan’s trident.
But it seems like his new moniker will just make the sequel’s secrets and other puzzles more mysterious. The eighth Atlantean kingdom in comic books is named Necrus (the working title for the movie!) and it flits in and out of our plane of existence depending on the position of an extraterrestrial satellite that circles the planet. Sounds fairly disoriented to us.
It’s unclear why Arthur is looking for (yet another) secret place linked to Atlantis, but according to Wan, it will expand the DCEU even further. The sequel’s hero will “explore so many other realms,” the director assured the DC FanDome audience.
Of course, it won’t just be Aquaman taking in the sights for two hours. As the Black Manta and Orm/Ocean Master, respectively, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Patrick Wilson will return.
Following his loss in the first movie, it will be intriguing to watch how Orm and Arthur interact going forward. It’s likely that he will come back in a situation much to Thor/Loki (to borrow from a rival universe) where the brothers reluctantly cooperate.

David Hyde/Black Manta was last seen promising to exact retribution on Momoa’s hero for killing his father and outdueling him in combat. But he also joins forces with Dr. Stephen Shin, an authority on Atlantis. Interesting. Aquaman should be careful behind him.

Aquaman 2 Release Date
December 2018 saw the release of the first Aquaman, which triumphed against the likes of Mary Poppins Returns, Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, and Bumblebee. The fact that Warner Bros. had planned for its sequel to launch in another December is not surprising.
The planned release date for Aquaman 2 was December 16, 2022, or nearly exactly four years after the first film’s debut and only a few weeks after The Flash.
Sadly, there have been a number of delays. The film was originally scheduled to release on March 17, 2023, but was delayed due to VFX problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Then, later, it was made public that Warner Bros. has changed the release date for Aquaman 2, which was then postponed once more to December 25 in 2023 according to thedigitalfix.com/.
